Jumpstart San Francisco's Program Partners

Jumpstart's success depends in large part on our ability to work with early childhood centers, especially Head Start centers, called program partners (sites). Jumpstart's relationships with program partners are designed to enhance, not supplant, the efforts of local early childhood centers. Eight to ten Corps members are placed at each site along with a Team Leader. They work closely to develop and implement Jumpstart sessions during the 3 hours, twice a week that they devote to their Jumpstart children.

Last year Jumpstart San Francisco partnered with eight preschool centers in the Bayview/Hunter's Point, Visitation Valley, Mission and Richmond Districts. During the 2004-2005 academic year, Jumpstart San Francisco will increase its program to work closely with twelve local early childhood education centers.

On the Program Partner Feedback Form that the centers complete twice a year, one of the teachers had this to say,

"The Jumpstart students have worked very hard and successfully in encouraging the children to stay focused and interested during the sessions. We have seen a lot of improvement in the children."
-- Zaida Rodriguez, Site Director, Mission District
"The Corps Members are very enthusiastic and the children respond very positively to them. This alone positively impacts the children's academic growth and social/emotional development. Additionally, they implement activities that support and extend upon the curriculum."
-Tamitrice Rice, Site Director, Hunter's Point
